I love all seasons. The constant change keeps me on my toes, and I love the different light that comes with each day. It’s almost officially summer, which means its hot. HOT. When you walk out the door that warm, steamy salt air hits you (ohhh, how I love the salt air) and your hair. Those who are blessed with curly hair know the feeling. Either your hair forms cute ringlets or for those who are less fortunate – your hair spirals into a puffball of frizz. Welcome to Summer.
And with the warm, muggy air during Summertime you get … you guessed it. THUNDERSTORMS! These little nuggets of joy seemed to always come in the evening after a long day full of air so thick with humidity it seems hard to breath. You can hear the thunder begin to boom before you can even see the storm coming. It’s a low rumble in the air, one of those that you can feel more then hear. The sky clouds up in the distance and turns almost black as they crawl across the Bay at various speeds. The wind starts to pick up and cool off as the rain pelts across windows and the brackish water. The thunder rumbles louder and the lightning falls from the sky, striking the water and sometimes an occasional tree. I’ve always liked thunderstorms, watching the crazy clouds roll in, and the feeling in the air of electricity.
Sometimes at the end of a thunderstorm, when it’s raining ever so slightly and the sky has cleared off, nature gives you a gorgeous rainbow.
